Dreaming is great - but once you've set your dreams and your goals, you need to go to work. According to legend, God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh - and that's a good plan. Take a look at your goals and think about what action you could take tomorrow that will start you on your journey. Often the first step is the hardest but, once you've made it, you find it easier to keep going. Beware the dream stealers too - plenty of people will tell you that what you're doing is risky. They mean to protect you, but often they have no experience when they're giving you advice. Some people will tell you you're mad - those same people will call you 'lucky' when you succeed. We have personal experience of this which may help... when we started our network marketing company, many of our friends thought we had lost our minds. They didn't understand it and they judged us by their own standards and knowledge, not by our standards. We lost some of our friends, but we've found new friends whose values and ideas match ours. This is much more rewarding in the long term, but can be really painful in the short-term. We had to learn not to let people hold us back from our dream of financial freedom - and you will need to do the same. "The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it" Chinese Proverb Actions Speak Louder Than Words Look back at your goals and make a list of things you need to do, people you need to call, books you need to read, meetings you want to have etc. Create a checklist and start working your way down it - no excuses. If you're still working full-time, set aside an amount of time every day that you can dedicate to your new venture, and be strict with yourself. Make sure you set that time aside, every day, so you can see progress. A great couple shared with me one of their tips that helps you take actions in different areas of your lives. They taught us about the 'power of 5'. If you need to progress your business, your personal life, your health etc. then take each area and move it forward by five steps each day. If you have three in-trays, or email folders, progress five items from each every day. You can be happy you've made progress, without feeling one area has suffered over the others. Create a 90-Day Plan When you have your list of actions, you can create a daily method of operation - things you must do every day in order to move your business forward. A 90-day plan is simply that daily method of operation repeated for 90-days. This consistency will progress your business, but you must stick with the plan, day-in, day-out for 90-days. See the Building Awareness section for further details of how important consistency is when marketing your business. Everyone's actions will be different, but the key is to get on with them, and go to work. In the UK, we sometimes expect things to be easy, as we lead quite comfortable lives but, if you want to lead an extraordinary life, you need to work hard and remember - successful people do what unsuccessful people don't. |
