A dream is just a wish, until you put a date on it. Ask yourself how long you spend planning your family holiday. For many people it can be a number of days, searching for places to go, speaking to travel agents, making the arrangements, booking the aiport parking, booking the pets into kennels, organising a hire car etc. Now, ask yourself how long you spend planning the other 50 weeks of the year? Business philosopher, Jim Rohn, finds it difficult to believe the vast majority of us spend longer planning our two week escape, than we do planning our life. If we can turn that plan on it's head, chances are the remaining 50 weeks will start to improve and maybe you won't need two weeks to escape? If you pick up any business book written either by, or about, a successful business owner, each one will tell you the importance of setting goals and, more importantly, writing them down. Many years ago a study was made of Hardvard graduates. When asked who in the class had goals, they all said they had, but only 3% had written their goals down. Thirty years later 3% of the class earned more than the other 97% put together - no prizes for guessing it was the 3% who had written their goals down. So ignore this section as your peril. We would recommend you take a sheet of paper and write down the following five headings: I want to Have I Want to Be I Want to Do I Want to See I Want to Go Now take as long as you need to write down all your goals. Some might be small, like a new vacuum cleaner or a dishwasher. Some might be larger, such as trips to Africa or Antartica. You might want a cleaner, or a personal trainer. You might dream of owning a Ferrari - or maybe two. Whatever it is, write it down and record it. Then, put a realistic date against each goal - make sure you have some short-term goals, some medium-term and some long-term - so you always have something else to strive to achieve. To make those dreams visual, cut pictures out of magazines and pin them on a goal board, or put them in a goal book. Keep checking how you're doing and adding to your dreams, as you realise they can come true. If you don't believe in the power of dreams, just get hold of a copy of the Law of Attraction DVD and ask yourself 'what if it's true?' If you need more help with your dreams, take a look at Jim Rohn's '7 Strategies for Wealth and Happniness'. Take yourself back to childhood and remind yourself how to dream - it's great fun!
